Softedge™ is Shenandoah’s patented sculptured-edge shutter design with concealed hinges. Its main difference is visible at the edge of the panel, where the shutter meets the window molding. Here is what to look for when comparing it with a traditional shutter.
A Rounded Panel Edge
The sculptured profile creates a rounded transition to the molding. Hold a sample against the trim in your room to see how the shapes work together. The edge is a design detail, separate from the size of the louvers or the number of panels.
Less Visible Hardware
The hinges are concealed when the panels are closed. Open the sample as well as closing it so you can see how the hardware works and how the panel moves.
Paint and Stain Options
Shenandoah builds hardwood shutters, typically using yellow poplar and basswood. Compare painted or stained samples in the room. Custom paint and stain matching are available if you want to coordinate with existing trim.
Measuring Still Matters
Window depth, handles, and surrounding walls affect the mounting layout. For tilt-in windows and casements, the consultant checks access to the controls and movement of the window. We confirm which arrangement will work at your opening before building the panels.
See Softedge at Your Windows
During a free in-home consultation, we bring samples, measure the windows, and discuss finishes and panel options. Our shutters are built in Richmond and installed by our employees.
