Shenandoah Shutters was founded in Richmond, Virginia in 1990 with a single purpose: to build the finest custom plantation shutters available, right here in the community we serve. More than three decades later, that purpose has not changed. We are a family-owned business that takes pride in every shutter we build, every window we measure, and every installation we complete.
Every shutter we sell is made in our Richmond workshop at 5330 Houndmaster Rd, Midlothian, VA 23112. We do not import shutters from overseas factories or resell products from national distributors. When you order from Shenandoah, your shutters are built by our craftsmen, finished in our facility, and installed by our own team. This factory-direct model means you get a better product at a lower price — with no middleman markup and no communication gaps between the people who build and the people who install.
Our craftsmen work with premium hardwood species including basswood and poplar. Every shutter is hand-finished and inspected before it leaves our facility. The result is a product that looks and feels like fine furniture, not a mass-produced window covering.
We measure every window ourselves. Our measuring process accounts for trim depth, casing profile, wall depth, and how the room is used — details that matter when building shutters to exact tolerances. After measuring, we provide a detailed written quote with no hidden fees. Once you approve the order, your shutters are built in our Richmond workshop and installed by our own installation team. The entire process typically takes four to six weeks from measurement to installation.
Every installation is backed by our limited lifetime warranty. If a shutter panel warps, a louver cracks, or a hinge fails under normal use, we repair or replace it at no charge. This warranty reflects our confidence in the materials we use and the craftsmanship of our team. We have been standing behind our work since 1990, and we intend to keep doing so.
